Buhoma Lodge
Buhoma Lodge is an intimate luxury forest lodge inside Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, offering ten private chalets, spectacular rainforest views, full-board dining and exceptionally convenient access to gorilla trekking.
A Forest Sanctuary on Gorilla Country's Doorstep Wake above Bwindi's ancient canopy, trek for mountain gorillas just minutes away
Set high on a forested hillside within the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Buhoma Lodge offers an immersive rainforest stay just minutes from the gorilla trekking meeting point. The lodge's elevated position provides uninterrupted views across the Bwindi forest canopy, while the surrounding vegetation creates an intimate atmosphere where birdlife, monkeys and the sounds of the rainforest become part of everyday life.
The property comprises ten individually designed chalets constructed using locally sourced materials. Each has a private veranda, large windows, an en-suite bathroom with hot rain shower and eco-friendly bathroom amenities. Some chalets have bathtubs, while the family/honeymoon chalet adds a separate lounge and open fireplace. Solar lighting and insect-proof window screens further reinforce the property's forest-oriented design.
The main building houses an elevated open-air lounge, bar and dining area, complete with fireplaces and broad forest views. Meals are prepared from locally sourced produce, while guests can enjoy complimentary hot beverages, Wi-Fi in the bar/common area and a complimentary massage after the gorilla trek as part of the current full-board offering.
Buhoma Lodge is especially well suited to travellers whose priority is the gorilla experience itself. The lodge is within a short walk of the trekking meeting point, and its staff provide practical trekking support such as ponchos, gaiters, walking sticks and other equipment. Gorilla trekking success rates are reported by the lodge at over 90%, although sightings themselves can never be guaranteed.
