Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge

Perched high on Nteko Ridge in southern Bwindi, Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge combines dramatic highland scenery with a refined but deeply rooted safari experience. The lodge overlooks the forest canopy and surrounding Virunga mountain chain, giving guests some of the most striking views in the Bwindi region. Its proximity to the Nkuringo trekking centre also means guests can walk to the gorilla briefing point rather than undertaking a long pre-dawn transfer. 

The property currently comprises 15 eco-luxury accommodation units: six Deluxe Garden Cottages, two two-bedroom Family Villas and five Luxury Forest Suites. The suites feature large windows, private lounges, fireplaces, panoramic bathtubs and forest views, while the family villas provide two interconnected bedrooms and shared living space. 

The lodge's experience offering extends well beyond gorilla trekking. Guests can take part in guided forest walks, birding, the Buniga Batwa Forest Walk, Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga, Lake Mutanda canoeing, community visits, volcano hikes and the signature Top of the World Sundowner. 

Its sustainability story is especially strong. The property states that it is carbon neutral, uses solar power with generator backup, harvests rainwater, eliminates single-use plastics, grows organic vegetables and works with local farmers and communities. Each guest stay also contributes US$10 per person per night to the Gorilla Junction Foundation Fund.
