Kibale Forest Camp
Kibale Forest Camp is a charming forest-edge safari camp near Kibale National Park, offering comfortable safari tents, fresh local and international cuisine, warm hospitality and easy access to chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland.
Where the Forest Wakes Around You An intimate safari camp at the edge of Kibale Forest, perfectly placed for chimpanzee tracking, forest walks and Bigodi's remarkable wetlands.
Set in a patch of evergreen forest beside the Magombe Swamp, Kibale Forest Camp provides an immersive base for exploring one of Uganda's most important primate destinations. The camp is just south of Kibale National Park and approximately 10 minutes' drive from Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, where chimpanzee tracking activities begin.
The property is deliberately intimate rather than resort-like. Its accommodation is divided into self-contained Luxury Safari Tents and more basic Explorer's Tents that use a shared bathroom block. The Luxury Safari Tents sit on raised platforms beneath thatched roofs and have private verandas, en-suite bathrooms and hot water, while Explorer's Tents offer a simpler forest-camping experience at a lower price point.
The camp's double-storey, thatched restaurant overlooks the forest and papyrus wetland, while trails through the grounds provide an easy opportunity to encounter the surrounding nature. Red colobus and black-and-white colobus monkeys are known to move through the trees around the camp, adding to the sense that guests are staying within a living forest rather than simply next to one.
Kibale Forest Camp is especially well suited to chimpanzee trekkers, birders, primate enthusiasts, couples and travellers seeking good-value safari accommodation with an authentic forest atmosphere. Tripadvisor currently describes it as a good-value property and awards it a Travelers' Choice distinction.
