Paraa Safari Lodge
Paraa Safari Lodge is a historic safari lodge overlooking the Victoria Nile in Murchison Falls National Park, offering comfortable rooms with private balconies, a swimming pool, wellness facilities and excellent access to wildlife and river cruises.
The Nile, Murchison Falls & a Legacy of Safari A historic riverside lodge where classic safari atmosphere meets panoramic Nile views, wildlife-rich surroundings and modern comfort.
Established in 1954, Paraa Safari Lodge occupies a spectacular position on a hill overlooking the Victoria Nile in Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge combines old-world safari character with modern comforts, retaining an explorer-inspired style while offering contemporary accommodation, dining, leisure and wellness facilities.
The lodge currently has 54 accommodation units, with options ranging from standard rooms and deluxe rooms to suites, tents and the distinctive Queen's Cottage. Rooms feature private balconies and en-suite bathrooms, while upgraded categories provide additional living space, air-conditioning and enhanced Nile views.
Paraa's location is one of its greatest assets. The lodge sits close to Paraa Jetty, making it convenient for boat cruises along the Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls and into the Nile Delta. Guests can combine these excursions with game drives, nature walks, birdwatching, fishing and chimpanzee-tracking excursions in the wider Murchison conservation area.
Back at the lodge, guests can enjoy the swimming pool, Explorer's Bar, Captain's Table restaurant, fitness and wellness facilities and broad Nile views. The atmosphere is distinctly classic safari, with historic décor and architecture inspired by the early explorers who passed through the region.
Current property note: guest reports from 2026 indicate that parts of Paraa were undergoing renovation, including accommodation wings and a newer swimming-pool development. For your website, I would avoid describing every facility as newly renovated until the current refurbishment programme is confirmed complete.
