Gorilla Heights Lodge

Perched at approximately 2,400 metres above sea level, Gorilla Heights Lodge occupies one of the highest viewpoints in the southern wing of Bwindi. The 12-acre property looks across the forest canopy towards the Virunga Mountain ranges, giving almost every part of the guest experience a dramatic highland backdrop. 

The lodge comprises 15 contemporary cottages, thoughtfully positioned across the hillside to maximise privacy and views. Standard Cottages measure approximately 72 m², while Deluxe Cottages offer approximately 120 m², private dining facilities, kitchenettes and outdoor bathtubs overlooking the forest. The 165 m² Family Cottage has two bedrooms, two en-suite bathrooms, a lounge, dining area and kitchenette and accommodates up to four guests. 

Gorilla Heights is particularly well suited to travellers who want to combine the adventure of gorilla trekking with a more sophisticated lodge experience. The Nkuringo trekking starting point is approximately 5–10 minutes away, while Rushaga is also accessible by vehicle. The property can additionally arrange golden monkey trekking, forest walks, birdwatching, Batwa community visits and canoeing on Lake Mutanda. 

After a day in the forest, guests can retreat to the heated swimming pool, cold plunge, IKE Spa and Health Club, or relax at the Canopy Bar overlooking Bwindi. Dining takes place at Humura Restaurant, where seasonal menus incorporate locally sourced ingredients and the two terraces provide views of either the forest or Virunga Mountains.
