Important Information

We want to ensure you have all the information you need to plan and enjoy a smooth, safe, and enriching safari in East Africa.

Most visitors to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda require a visa or electronic authorization. Kenya uses the online eTA system (etakenya.go.ke), while Tanzania and Uganda issue e-Visas online. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date with minimum 2 blank pages.

Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for travelers arriving from or transiting through endemic areas. We recommend Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Tetanus, and routine boosters. Malaria is present in most wildlife reserves — consult your travel physician for recommended anti-malarial prophylaxis.

Local currencies are Kenya Shilling (KES), Tanzania Shilling (TZS), and Uganda Shilling (UGX). US Dollars (printed after 2013) are widely accepted for park fees, balloon safaris, and lodge tipping. Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted at established camps and lodges.

English and Swahili are official languages in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. English is universally spoken by all our professional safari driver-guides, airport staff, and lodge teams. Multilingual guides (German, French, Spanish, Italian) are available upon request.

The standard voltage is 220–240V, 50Hz. The standard plug type across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda is the British 3-pin rectangular plug (Type G). Most safari lodges operate on solar or generator power with 24-hour charging stations in rooms or main lounges.

East Africa operates on East Africa Time (EAT), which is GMT/UTC +3 hours year-round. There is no daylight saving time adjustment in East Africa, giving consistent sunrise (~6:00 AM) and sunset (~6:30 PM) timings perfect for early game drives.

Pack neutral-colored lightweight clothing (khaki, beige, olive), a wide-brim hat, high-SPF sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, binoculars, camera with zoom lens, and personal medications. Please consult our complete Packing Guide for a detailed day-by-day checklist.

East Africa is a safe, welcoming destination for wildlife lovers. Our guests are escorted by experienced, certified professional guides at all times. Always follow your guide's instructions inside national parks, stay inside safari vehicles during drives, and avoid solitary night walks.

We are passionate about wildlife conservation and community empowerment. Single-use plastic bags are banned in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Please respect wild animals by maintaining quietness at sightings, never feeding wildlife, and packing reusable water containers.
